About Jose Jacob of Florida
Dr. Jose Jacob is a seasoned invasive cardiologist with over 23 years of experience treating cardiovascular diseases. He has built a career based on providing exceptional patient care, specializing in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, and transesophageal echocardiograms. He completed his Master of Science (MSc) in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He undertook his cardiology fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College, further advancing his expertise.
Jose Jacob MD was born on January 3rd, 1960, in India. His interest in medicine sparked during his early years, prompting him to pursue a medical career. He attended St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, where he completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1983. Afterward, he pursued his passion for internal medicine and earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in General Internal Medicine in 1991, further deepening his medical knowledge before specializing in cardiology.
In 1992, Dr. Jacob sought to broaden his medical expertise by moving to Europe. He worked in both the Republic of Ireland and England, where he served as a Senior House Officer and Medical Registrar in Internal Medicine at Letterkenny General Hospital in County Donegal, Ireland, from 1994 to 1996. During this period, he completed his MSc in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1995. His thesis on “Thrombolysis in Acute Myocardial Infarction” significantly impacted the improvement of heart attack treatment protocols.
In 1996, Dr. Jacob moved to the United States to advance his medical career. He began by completing an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Upon completing his residency, he pursued a cardiology fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City from 1999 to 2002. This fellowship gave him the specialized skills to excel in invasive cardiology and perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Since 2002, Dr. Jacob has been practicing as an invasive cardiologist in various medical centers across the United States. His work includes providing consultative cardiology services, performing cardiac catheterizations, implanting pacemakers and defibrillators, and conducting advanced diagnostic tests like transesophageal echocardiograms. He began his practice at the Fayetteville Heart Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina, before transitioning to other institutions, including Carolina Heart in Greenville, North Carolina, and Carolina East Cardiology.
From 2010 to 2018, Dr. Jacob worked at Eastern Carolina Cardiovascular, where he gained recognition for his clinical excellence. In addition to his clinical work, he held leadership roles, including serving as the Director and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, from 2016 to 2018. He also served as Chief of Staff at Martin General Hospital in Williamston, North Carolina, from 2019 to 2020.
In 2021, Dr. Jacob relocated to Florida, continuing his practice at the Cardiac Specialty Institute in Leesburg, Florida. He is also affiliated with the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida in Ocala, where he offers expert cardiovascular care. He is associated with several hospitals in Florida, including HCA Ocala Regional Medical Center, AdventHealth Hospital, and West Marion Community Hospital.
